Significance of durood.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzaab verse 56:
Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him and salute him with all respect.
Respected brother, some parts of the narrations quoted by you above are indeed found in the authentic and established records of Sunnah, while there is no evidence for the other parts. Amongst the narrations regarding the ‘durood’ which are considered authentic are:
Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-'As reported that he heard the Prophet saws saying, If anyone invokes blessings upon me once, Allah will bestow blessings upon him ten times over.
Related by Muslim. Ibn Mas'ud reported that the Prophet saws said, "The people nearest to me on the Day of Judgment will be the ones most conscientious in invoking blessings upon me. Related by Tirmidhi.
Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet saws said, Do not turn my grave into a site of festivities, but send greetings to me for your greetings are raised to me wherever you might be. Related by Abu Daw'ud. Aus reported that the Prophet saws said, The best of your days is Friday, so send more and more greetings to me on it, for your greetings are presented to me. They asked, How are our greetings presented to you while you are dead and your body is turned into dust? He saws replied, Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the prophets.
Related by Abu Daw'ud and Nasa'i.
Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet saws said, When any muslim sends greetings to me, Allah returns my soul to me so that I may respond to his greetings.
Related by Abu Daw'ud.
Abu Talha Al Ansari said, The Prophet saws woke up one day cheerful and beaming. His companions exclaimed, O Prophet of Allah saws , you woke up today cheerful and beaming. He saws replied, Yes! A messenger Angel of Allah, the Mighty and the Glorified, came to me and said, "If anyone from your Ummah sends you a salutation, Allah will record for him ten good deeds, wipe off ten of his sins, and raise him thereby ten degrees in rank, and He will return his salutation with a similar salutation.

Durood Sharif Al Salat Ala Al Nabi is an invocation we make to God to bestow His choicest favour and blessings on the Holy Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him. It is a kind of prayer.
The truth is that, after God, the greatest obligation on us is that of the Holy Prophet Mohammad peace and blessings of God be upon him . He underwent tremendous hardships and endured the bitterest of persecutions in order to convey the divine guidance to us. Had he not borne these trials and sufferings the light of faith would never have reached us. We would be dwelling in the gloom of apostasy and making our home in hell after death.
Since faith is the greatest blessing on the earth and we have attained it solely through the merciful agency of the Holy Prophet, our greatest benefactor, next to God, is Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). There is nothing we can do to pay back the enormous debt of gratitude we owe him. We can only pray for him to God as a token of our loyalty and gratefulness. But what prayer can we make that may be worthy of the Holy Prophet? Naturally, none besides that God may magnify him and bless him with His choicest favours. This is just what Durood is.
The Holy Quran clearly enjoins on us to offer the Durood, and in what a wonderful manner does it do so: “God and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him and salute him with all respect xxxiii:56.
In this verse we are first told that God himself honours the Holy Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) and holds him in strongest affection and that His angels also do the same they pay reverence to him and beseech God to bless him with His most marvellous favours. The verse then goes on to command us also, i.e., the believers to send blessings on him and salute him with all respects. Thus, before the command is given care is taken to explain to us that the thing we are being required to do is something, which is particularly pleasing to God and which the angels also fondly do. After knowing it, what Muslim is there worth his name who will not make it a religious duty to offer the Durood?
In sum, to send blessings on the Holy Prophet is a foremost duty we owe to him, a source of stupendous virtue and blessedness and the fountainhead of prodigious blessings in this world and the next.
Another important point in the Islamic scheme of things, is worship by night, especially during the latter part. It is highly commended by Allah. The Holy Quran says: Stand to prayer by night, but not all night half of it or little less, or a little more; and recite the Quran in slow, measured, rhythmic tones 73:2,3 and 4. Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing the soul, and most suitable for framing the word of prayer and praise 73:6

The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him described the merit of every night in these words: Our Lord, the Blessed and the Glorious, descends every night to the heaven of the world and stays there till the last third of the night and says; who is there to call Me, so that I shall respond to him; who is there to ask Me, so that I should confer upon him; and who is there to seek forgiveness from Me, so that I should forgive him? Bukhari . There is an hour in the night in which if a Muslim asks good from Allah in regard to the affairs of the world and those of the hereafter, it would be granted to him and this facility is provided to the worshipper every night. Muslim
In Islam every night is excellent for offering prayer besides the five obligatory prayers. However, there are certain special nights in comparative merit. Syeda Ayesha Siddiqah narrates: God opens the gates of His blessings and favours upon His servants during four nights of Eid Al Adha, Eid Al Fitr, 15th of Shabaan and the night of Al Arafah. During these four nights the gates of God’s blessings remain widely open till the Azaan of the Fajr prayer Baihaqi
The blessings of the nightly prayers are manifold. It is incumbent upon every Muslim, man or woman, to earnestly and sincerely seek forgiveness of God every night.

40 DUROOD & SALAAM UPON THE PROPHET
Here are 40 prayers (salawat) upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) collected from various books of Hadith. Allah has instructed us to send prayers upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), what better way to do so than reading salawat mentioned in Hadith.
“Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [ Allah to grant him] peace.” 33:56
